This is meant as a small instruction of how to copy media-files (MP3/JPEG/MPEG files) from a CD/DVD to the internal hard-disk.
First, you insert the CD/DVD that you have with the media-files on in the NorthQ 7000/7100. Then just follow the instructions below. Here I copied a couple of MP3 files to the hard-disk.

Press "SETUP" on the remote control to get to the top menu. Then go down to the "SmartNavi" menu and press "ENTER". |
![]() |
Here you can see the structure of my hard-disk when I did this. |
![]() |
We'll start by creating a new folder for the MP3 files. Press "OSD" on the remote control, scroll down to "NEW FOLDER" and press "ENTER". |
![]() |
Here we have to name the new folder. This is done by moving around the virtual keyboard and selecting characters by pressing "ENTER". As I want to name the folder "MP3", we'll start with an "M"... |
![]() |
...hen a "P"... |
![]() |
...and last a "3". To end the input press "STOP". |
![]() |
There you go! A new folder called "MP3". AS you can see, it says that it is empty. If we press "ENTER", we'll browse into the folder... |
![]() |
...and as it said, it's empty! Press "ENTER" again to get back to the root folder. |
![]() |
Aaah, back again! |
![]() |
To tell the NorthQ where to store the files we want to copy,
we have to "stand" on the folder we want the files in and press "PBC". Not
very obvious, but that's the way it is. When we press "OSD" a small white text in the lower left corner (below the "HOME ENTERTAINMENT CENTER" text) that tells us "Target Drive/Dir Set". It is not very visible, but if you know it is supposed to be there, you can see it. |
![]() |
Then we press "SETUP" again to get back to the top menu. Go up to "Play DVD" and press "ENTER" to get to the CD/DVD. |
![]() |
The NorthQ starts to examine the disc we inserted... |
![]() |
...and hopefully it finds MP3 files on it! Go down to the first file you want to copy. |
![]() |
Press "OSD", scroll down to "SELECT" and press "ENTER". |
![]() |
Now we can select which files to copy. As you can see, the information line tells us "Select: S00:001". |
![]() |
To mark a file for copying, press the "ENTER" button when you "stand" on it. As you can see, the file we selects changes color to yellow. The information text also changes to "Select: S01:001". |
![]() |
Now we can select more files by scrolling down and press
"ENTER" on al files we want to copy. As you can see, the marked files is only yellow when we "stand" on them, a marked file is otherwise purple. |
![]() |
We scroll down and press "ENTER" to select the next file... |
![]() |
...and continue down... |
![]() |
...and selects another file by pressing "ENTER". Now the information text displays "Select: S03:004". It means that we have selected three files, and currently "stands" on file 004 in this folder. |
![]() |
Now we are ready to do the actual copying. Press "STOP" to end the selection of files. The information text says "Select End". |
![]() |
Press the "OSD key, scroll to "COPY" and press "ENTER". |
![]() |
Now the NorthQ starts to copy the files from the CD/DVD to the internal hard-disk. You can watch the progress on the information text line. |
![]() |
Sooner or later the copy will be finished, and all selections will be cleared. The information line will also say "Finished". |
![]() |
To check if the copy went as it should, press "SETUP" to get to the top menu. Then go down to the "SmartNavi" menu and press "ENTER". |
![]() |
Go down to the "MP3" folder. It says that it contains three
files, which seems OK. To be sure you can press "ENTER" to browse into the foder... |
![]() |
...and here you can see the three files we just copied! |
That's it! It takes a bit of time to do this, but once you get the hang of it, it is reasonably easy. The only thing that is not obvious is that you have to press "PBC" to set the destination folder to copy the files to, so that's the part you have to remember yourself.
