First of all, if you don't have any problems with playing DVD's in your NorthQ, there is no need to upgrade the DVD-loader firmware in your player! Upgrading the DVD-loader firmware is always a risk, since it may render your NorthQ unusable if it is done the wrong way.
If you do need to upgrade the DVD-loader firmware, but are unsure about how to do this, please contact the NorthQ support! They can help you make sure that the update is done correctly!
Be very careful when you change the DVD-loader firmware in your player. If it goes wrong, your player will probably be unusable!!!
The DVD-loader firmware in the NorthQ 7xxx player can be upgraded by burning a CD with the new firmware on. This CD is then inserted in the NorthQ, which will update the DVD-loader firmware automatically.
This is how to update the DVD-loader firmware in the NorthQ 7xxx:

Download the DVD-loader update here. |

Unpack the downloaded zip-file, the firmware file is called VT7206.BIN |
|
|
Launch Nero (I used version 6.0.0.11) (or any other CD burning software
that you have) and create a new CD using the
following settings: - No Multisession - ISO Level 1 (Max of 11 = 8 + 3 chars) - Mode 1 - Character set: ISO 9660 - No Joliet - Finalize CD. |

Add the downloaded file (named VT7206.BIN) to the compilation. |
|
|
Burn the CD (make sure you close/finalize the CD). |
Now it's time to use the upgrade-CD. It is very important to do exactly as described below, otherwise your NorthQ may become unusable!

Open the DVD-tray. |
|
|
Insert the upgrade-CD. |
|
|
Close the DVD-tray. |
|
|
Wait until the DVD-tray opens automatically. It took about 20 seconds before the tray opened on my NorthQ. |
|
|
Remove the upgrade-CD from the DVD-tray. |
|
|
Wait until the DVD-tray closes automatically. It took about 20 seconds before the tray closed on my NorthQ. Do not under any circumstances close the DVD-tray yourself!!! |

Wait another 10-20 seconds before using the
NorthQ. I don't know if this is necessary, but better safe than sorry
 . |
