Firmware

First, I would like to say that as far as I know, there are no upgrades available for the United 3151! I have heard rumours about an upgrade to allow players that cannot play VCD/SVCD discs to be able to do so, but this upgrade also involves replacing of the flash memory in the player to another type of flash type. As far as I know, this upgrade is not available for download anywhere.

Upgrading the firmware in the player

If you do not know what you are doing, please do not try to change the firmware in your player. If it goes wrong, your player will be unusable!!!

If you would like some more information about the firmware in the 3151, please look at the EuroLine 6620 firmware page, as the things that are written there also applies to the United 3151.

If there will ever be an upgrade for the United 3151, you can upgrade the firmware in it by making a CD with the firmware binary on. The binary file on the CD should be named BANK30.ROM.

These are the setting that can be used in Nero (v5.5.9.0) to make such a CD:

When the CD is ready and inserted into the United 3151 the following will happen:

The player looks for the CD and finds (and displays) the BANK30.ROM file.
It then begins to write the new firmware into the flash ROM. It displays the "WRITING" screen three times.
Then it displays "DONE" for a short while, and then  turns itself off.

That's all!
