Overview

The Denver DVD-176 is a very low profile DVD player, it is only about 5 cm (2") high! It seems to be almost the same player as the EuroLine 6642M, but it also has analog 5.1 audio outputs.

The Denver DVD-176 can play the following formats:

I have tested the DVD-176 with CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW and it has been able to play all of them! However, it is possible that the player may have problems with certain brands of R/RW discs, but I have no information about this. (I do not have any DVD+R to test with, so if you have the possibility to make a Video-DVD on a DVD+R disc, I am very interested in buying one from you).

Even though there is nothing mentioned about the DVD-176 being able to play VCD/SVCD, I have not yet heard of a DVD-176 that cannot play VCD/SVCD.

The DVD-176 has a built-in DolbyDigital decoder. In the tests I have made, it seems that the DVD-176 also has a built-in DTS decoder, but this confuses me a bit as it doesn't say so anywhere in the manual or on the box. But when I play a DVD with DTS audio, I get sound on all 6 analog outputs on the back of the player.

The DVD-176 is also able to downmix both DD and DTS to 2 channel stereo that can be listened to via the analog audio outputs on the back of the player.

It is possible to make the DVD-176 region free or to set a specific region number, look at the Hacks page for information about how to do this.

Another thing that has been added to the DVD-176 is the possibility to choose between RGB and Composite video output on the SCART socket.
